Guptakashi:
Located in the Northern Himalayan belt in the Mandakini River valley, which has lush green forests. Several streams and rivulets drain into the main Mandakini River. It has salubrious climate with its elevation being around 1,319 meters (4,330 ft). The snow sparkling view of the Chaukhamba peak is a lovely sight to behold in the hours of sun rise and sun set from here.
ARDHNARISHWER TEMPLE : The temple is dedicated to Ardhnarishwer the union of lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Both the temples are in same Compound.
It is believed that Lord Shiva had proposed to Goddess Parvati in the same place, before marrying in Triyugi Narayan.
VISHWANATH TEMPLE: The Sacred Shrine is located in the town of Guptkashi. The Vishwanath Temple looks a lot like the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. The temple has a peaceful feeling, and the silver-capped snowy peaks of Chaukhambha in the background make it even more beautiful.
In front of the temple, there's a place called the Manikarnika Kund. It is believed that this pool of water is filled by two underground streams, one from the Yamuna River and the other from the Ganga River.
In the early morning, you'll check out from your hotel, and your driver will take you to either Seetapur or Sonprayag. From Sonprayag, you have to hire shuttle services of local cab to get to Gaurikund. Once you arrive in Gaurikund, your journey to Kedarnath begins. This trek covers a distance of 18 kilometers and follows a well-marked path. It typically takes about 9 -10 hours to reach Kedarnath on foot.
If walking the entire way seems challenging, you have the option to hire a Palki (a kind of sedan chair) or use horses that are available in Gaurikund. Breakfast and lunch will be on the way to kedarnath.
